2014 Campaign Final Results and 2015 Officers/Board Members

The Rice Lake United Way Board of Directors announce the 2014 campaign totals and that the campaign is officially closed.  2014 Goal of $95,000 surpassed the target amount.  This year’s individual and corporate donations reached $95,336.66. The community’s generosity assures that the 22 member agencies will receive the monies requested. The checks will be in the mail this week with the application for continued funding included.

Donation Breakdown includes:

Business Contributions    $41, 329.27

Dress Down Days       $1,054.00

Education/Government   $630.00

Holly Auction         $19,603.10

Medical Community         $11, 821.12

Other/Matching Funds     $6,863.17

Residential         $14,036.00

The United Way Board of Directors reports that $.85 of every dollar goes directly to support the agencies that receive funding from the local United Way.  A local United Way donation is divided into seven categories; 17% Youth Development; 15% Health and Human Services; 11% Fund Raising; 24% Senior Citizens; 12% Local Support Groups; 5% Administering Funds; and 16% Families.

The 2015 Rice Lake United Way officers include-Patty Flynn(President), Mitch Zimmer(Vice President), Andrew Morrison(Treasurer), Stefanie Fiedler(Secretary), Deidra Meyer(Past President).  Local board members include Bob Anderson, Brooke Bezek, David Bridges, Anne Gallagher, Tracy Schieffer, Jeremy Sisko, and Susan Strouf.

holiday sweatshirt.

Annual Holly Auction & Taste of the Holly Days to Benefit the Rice Lake United Way

The 17th Annual Holly Auction and Taste of the Holly Days will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at the Rice Lake Elks Lodge Banquet Hall, 36 East Eau Claire Street, Doors open at 6pm. “ A Fun Holiday Affair”

The event is sponsored by Central Bank, Toboggan Run Dental and American Family Insurance with in kind services provided by the Koser Radio network the Rice Lake Chronotype.

Tickets available at the door for $10.00 or at the VIP level of $25.

This year’s event will include the Silent Auction-gifts, collectables, artwork and certificates for dinners and things to do, places to go and much more-Badger Basketball Tickets, Stouts Lodge Certificate, Prime Rib a Month from the Country Inn, Dry Cleaning Certificates, Warrior Sports Pass, and a Coke signature Bear and A Green Bay Packer Football are just a sample of the items included.

The Taste of the Holly Days includes-sampling of wines, beers, food-the holiday flavors of Northwest Wisconsin. Vendors include the Elks, Lehman’s, Reds/Jaybirds, Cookin Up a Storm, Valkyrie Brewing, Adventures and Norske Nook and others. Cash bars are also available.

Featured again this year are raffle boards that will be available for ‘party packages’ with donations from the Barron County Tavern League and a ‘Go Pro’ for fitness minded guests.

The Live Auction items will include a Sports Weekend and a Cabin Stay with a more surprises announced at the event.

New to the event is the Central Bank Money Grabber Machine where you could win up to $2,000. Participants purchase raffle tickets and wait for a chance to have some fun grabbling all the cash you can.

VIP Tickets are offered this year for $25. VIP status gives the participant early entry, two beverage tickets and a raffle ticket-be the first one to peruse the silent auction items and get an early chance to enter the Money Grabber.

Coat check will be available with the service provided by local Boy Scout Troop #28. All Guests are asked to use the Eau Claire Street entrance and check your coats upon entry.

Holly Auction donation coordinator- Andrew Morrison reports that the donation deadline for the silent auction items for the event closes on December 1. That assures that all items can be picked up and prepared for the December 3 event date. Area businesses or individuals willing to donate items are encouraged to contact Andrew at Central Bank- 715-234-1399. Pick up service is available.

The committee requests that all items won be paid for and taken home the evening of the event. The committee accepts Credit Cards, Cash or Checks as forms of payment.

Support the local United Way 2014 campaign goal of $95, 000 by attending the December 3 –Holly Auction and Taste of the Holidays! Shop for those on your guest list and make a donation at the same time.

The committee has added new features to this year’s holiday event-VIP Tickets available for $25 that includes early entry, two beverage tickets and a raffle ticket-be the first one to browse the auction items and get an early chance to enter the Money Grabber and take home $2,000; A Plinko game that resembles the Price is Right and a Money Grabber Machine sponsored by Central Bank. Participation with the ‘Grabber’ is by purchasing a raffle ticket and waiting your chance to have fun grabbing all the cash you can.

2014 Bizology

A fun and successful event !

 

Rice Lake United Way continued the kick-off events for this years $95,000 campaign at Lehmans Supper Club on Tues. Oct 15th. sponsored by Dairy State Bank.

Complimentary Hors de oeuvres with Cash Bar were available.

Those attended, mingled, introduce themselves and related to community and business leaders the importance of the United Way to agencies. (No reservations were required)

50/50 winners received cash/dining certificates donated by Dairy State Bank and a seasonal basket donated by Team Realty

Rice Lake United Way Announces Upcoming Raffle

The Rice Lake United Way Board of Directors announce the second annual Picnic Raffle to be held on Friday, May 23 from 4pm-8PM at Gordy’s County Market located at 2601 South Main Street. Tickets will be sold by United Way Board members on Friday and the winner does not have to be present.

Board members report only 150 tickets are available. Ticket prices are $5 each or 3 for $10.

The contents of the basket include items that could be used for any spring and summer outing including; grill tools, beach towels, mini first aid/sewing kits, dishes, gift cards, golf pass, basket(insulated cooler), and much more with a value of over $400, all donated by members of the United Way Board of Directors.

The annual picnic raffle is held by the United Way Board of Directors to raise awareness to the local United Way program that is an ongoing fundraising initiative in part support member agencies.

2013 Bizology Press Release

Bizology After Hours

(Formally Business after 5)

The Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce will conduct Bizology- on October 8, 2013. It will be held at the Rice Lake Elks Lodge-36 East Eau Claire Street, Rice Lake. The event will also serve as the kick-off for the annual Rice Lake United Way campaign, with a goal of $99,000.

Chamber members and their guests will have a chance to network, make new friends, and meet with potential customers. A business card exchange, drawings and a Mystery person will all be a part of the open house format with those attending. The Bizology committee extends the invitation to come any time between 5pm-7pm.

The purpose of the event is to network with other business people in a social atmosphere with complimentary Hors Devours and desserts from Gordy’s County Market. A cash bar will be available.  Bizology After Hours is for promoting Business in a fun and creative atmosphere. The event is open to Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce members, Rice Lake Elks Lodge members, invited guests, and all employees of the local member businesses.

The October event is co. sponsored by Gordy’s County Market and Our House  Senior Living in Rice Lake. If your business is interested in sponsoring the monthly social gathering-please contact the Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce for open dates and details.

Dress Down Days 2013/Fund Raising Suggestion’s

 

The United Way of Rice Lake is once again sponsoring Dress Down Days with all proceeds going directly to support the annual fund drive ($99,000). Participation is effortless!  The cost is $5 per person to dress down or wear casual or ‘theme’ clothing to your place of business.  Project coordinator-Dave Bridges notes the following dates and themes for this year’s activity; October 11-Favorite Team Colors(Rice Lake Homecoming); November 22-Bring Out the Orange; December 20-Holiday Motif Clothing, however, Dressing Down or working in casual attire could be any day of the week that works for you or your employer.  United Way Dress Down Stickers are available by contacting Dave Bridges at (715.234.0096), or dbridges@dairystatebank.com.  For more information concerning the local United Way Campaign can be reviewed by accessing the local website at www.unitedwayricelake.org.

The Dressing Down United Way activity is only one of the many ways of supporting the annual campaign fund drive, the following suggestions are offered as ways to become involved in the yearly drive;

BAKE SALE:  Package to sell goodies within your office or to customers.  Post information or pledge to the united Way.

INCENTIVES:  A day off or favorite parking spot for all participants that contribute or pledge to the United Way.

CUTEST BABY PICTURE CONTEST:  Set up a display of employee’s children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews for $5.00 entry.  For $.25 a vote, employees vote for the cutest one.  (Use baby food jars to collect donations under each picture).

PIZZA SALE:  Ask your company to purchase pizzas.  Sell them for a $1.50 a slice and donate the proceeds.

RESERVED PARKING:  Auction an executive’s parking spot for the winner’s use for a week.

VENDING MACHINES:  Raise the cost of your company vending machines by $.25 for a month.  Donate the extra money raised.

SILENT AUCTION:  Ask for a donation of things or services to be auctioned off at work.  Suggest unique and personal things such as art, antiques, dessert every month for a year and etc.  Display the items with a description and value.  Bidders could use their names or be assigned a number.

POTLUCK:   Have a volunteer bring a potluck lunch or breakfast.  Charge other employees to eat a home cooked meal.

YARD SALE:  Have a large parking lot garage sale, using employee’s old items or some inventory your company may have.

The Rice Lake United Way Board of Directors will officially kick-off the 2013 fundraising campaign with two events the week of October 7, 2013; first being at Bizology (formerly Business After 5) held on October 8 at the Rice Lake Elks Lodge-36 East Eau Claire Street-sponsored by Gordy’s County Market and Our House Senior Care facility from 5-7pm. United Way agency representatives and United Way BOD members will be available to answer questions concerning the campaign; second event of kickoff week will be at the Rice Lake Warrior football game on Friday, October 11. Members of the Board of Directors will serve as volunteer ticket sellers/takers at the Homecoming football game to raise awareness to the current $99,000 campaign drive. A Dress Down event is included in the week’s activities to add to public awareness.

Campaign brochures will be available to community the week-end that includes, October 11.  The resources will be inserted in the Early Bird publication distributed by the local newspaper.
